Our Excellent Cikgu Pandian

Cikgu Pandian as he is fondly known as, or Drs Sundarapandian A/L Valusamy, was born in Pulau Pangkor, Perak.

Cikgu Pandian as he is fondly known as, or Drs Sundarapandian A/L Valusamy, was born in Pulau Pangkor, Perak. As a fisherman’s son, he was the first Indian to have entered varsity. After his studies in University Malaya, he continued his education in the National University of Indonesia where he was introduced to Bahasa Melayu through Professor Sultan Takdir Alisyabana, and later into Malay literature.

He was later guided by Pak AGI (Abdul Ghafar Ibrahim) an important keystone in his involvement in education and who exposed him to poetry through Polipuisi at UKM and MATIC. He was awarded the excellent teacher award at Stella Maris School and is now teaching in Wesley Methodist Scholl Kuala Lumpur (International).

He was written many poems, and short stories. In addition, his first short story entitled ‘Ilusiku’ was published in ‘Suara Pembaharuan Jakarta’, Indonesia. His contributions in poetry were also included in ‘ Antologi Puisi Menganyam Tikar Peradaban’ (DBP), as well as having written academic books for SPM and STPM.

Cikgu Pandian remains an active member of the national poetry society of Malaysia, PERSATUAN PEMUISI NASIONAL MALAYSIA as well an active participant and contributor to various national poetry programmes.
