12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade Boot Camp

The 12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade company held an annual BB Boot Camp 2020. This event was held to introduce new members into the company as well as teach them about school and company culture.

On the 21st of February 2020 (Friday), the 12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade company held an annual BB Boot Camp 2020. This event was held to introduce new members into the company as well as teach them about school and company culture. This event was attended by 200 members along with 6 guests from the 2nd Puchong Boys’ Brigade Company. Corporal Anders Yew along with 10 committee members made this event a success.

Registration started and after that was the distribution of name tags. Corporal Anders Yew gave the welcoming address followed by an icebreaker session carried out by Corporal Darryl Yeow. At 5.00p.m, all the members moved to the assembly ground for the drill training sessions led by the squad leaders in preparation for their upcoming target test the next day. The next session was station games. After that all members headed back to their dorms for the cleanliness inspection.

The next morning, the exercise session was conducted by Lance Corporal Joshua Yim in the Dutton Hall. After the specialist session, everyone gathered in Wesley Hall where a word session was given by Warrant Officer, Mdm Renee. Jonathan Chin conducted a target class to teach recruits the songs, bugle calls and cheers that are used regularly in the company. Immediately after, the new members moved to the assigned classes where they had their target test carried out. After lunch the test was conducted in assigned classrooms. At 2.30 p.m. all gathered at the Wesley Hall and attended another session on how to polish shoes by the squad leaders, while the online registration of members was conducted by Staff Sergeant Hoshea Tiang and Sergeant Gerald Ng. New members took their drill training and returned to their dorms to rest. Then at 11.00 p.m., the members were woken up by surprise and had their mystery game. This game lasted for 2 hours.

By 7.00 a.m. in the morning all the members were once again gathered in the assembly grounds for morning exercise conducted by Corporal Alan Tan. After breakfast, all the members headed out to clean the school compound followed by a devotion session by the company’s worship team. From 9.00 a.m.to 11.00 a.m. the Parents Dialogue was carried out in the Dutton Hall while the others continued with the cleanup as well as preparing themselves for the awards day. After the awards day members headed home. The camp was a successful one and new members knew the expectations and duties to be carried out as members of the Boys’ Brigade.
